Critz Reidlbauer's 10kan 70.3

Say "Critz Reidlbauer's 10kan 70.3" with a German accent and you just might picture an elderly farmer named Critz in the Alps and wonder what his "10kan 70.3" could be... a local milestone?  A special piece of equipment or old tractor?

Critz:  or the Critz Farms Kermis to be exact held this past Saturday.  This was a Team Ommegang - Syracuse Bicycle promoted event which saw ten Ommegangsters racing and a handful of others in support roles (thank-you btw) to make the event an official success.  The field sizes doubled over last year's event and the Ommegangsters did not dissapoint in the results columns.   In the Men's Open, we had Ommegangsters Dave Y, Skinny Phil, Adam L, Sean B, Fred H, and Jason H tackling the challenging circuit with Dave Y on the podium in 2nd (sandwiched between Ommegangster Amigos Wayne B and Tim O).  The Men's Masters race saw AJ, Drumroll, Phil B and Dan the Plan represent with AJ and Drumroll taking spots 1 and 3 (with Ommegangster Amigo Diamond Dave F in between).

Here's another racer's writeup on the Critz event:  http://jackrabbitracing.blogspot.com/2010/09/critz-farm.html

Reidlbauer's (Reidlbauer's Round Top):   Ommegangsters Paul S made the trek out in Rooster country (aka the Catskills) to participate in the last race of the NYS MTB series at Reidlbauer's Resort.  Paul has competed regularly in the 5 race series and ended up in second place in the series for his respective Cat 1 MTB division.  Nice work Paul !

10Kan:   The 10kan bike event hosted by the Oswego YMCA saw another Ommegangster on the podium for the weekend.  Ray W fisnihed 3rd overall (1st in age group) in a field of almost 100 racers.  Congrats to Ray for this result and the steady progress he's shown all season long.

70.3 (Syracuse Half IronMan):    We had one Ommegangster take on the inaugural Syracuse 70.3 half IronMan triathlon with a quite impressive result ... a top 119 out of over 1600 finishers.  How's averaging over 22 mph on the challenging 56 mile bike course sound (after a 1.2 mile swim) and then following the bike with a 7:15 minute/mile pace for the half marathon.    Awesome Job "K".    Also a shout out to the handful of Ommegangsters that helped out at the 70.3 in various capacities for Syracuse Bicycle.  Some pics from teh Post Standard:  http://photos.syracuse.com/4456/gallery/_ironman_703_syracuse_/index.html

A busy but succesful weekend for sure.  Congrats to many and a thanks to any and all that helped out in some capacity.

Kirkland CX

Belgian style weather, sick slick mud & a new season on a great course greeted folks at the first stop on the NYCross.com series at the KCX in Clinton, NY.  Nine Ommegangsters were on tap (pun intended) this day to enjoy the cold, muddy dampness and most lovely of means of self induced suffering one can experience on a bicycle

The King !!  Older?  Wiser?  Faster?  The new bike? (or maybe even the waffle butt seat?)  Whatever it is, it worked.  King Karl F ruled the 55+ Masters division at Kirkland with a trip to the top spot of the podium.  Equally impressive was that he put the beat down on many of the cats up to 10-20 years younger as well in the 35+ & 45+ divisions.  The 35+ gang saw two of the three podium spots filled out by Dave Y and AJ F with a 2nd and 3rd.  Drumroll started out great w/the holeshot but overcooked a corner, got tangled in the tape & made a small comeback to finish top 5 in the 45+.

The "youngsters" in the Cat 4 group included Rooster with a 4th place, "K" with a 5th and Adam L with a top 10 in a pretty sizeable field of 34.

Not satisfied with playing on the podium in the 3/4 events, Skinny Phil manned up this year and ran with the big dogs in the Pro/1/2/3 field ending up with a 15th place finish in a rather packed elite field.

Also a shout out to Dan the Plan F for a very respectable result on the road at the Green Mountain Stage Race.  Dan has become the defacto team stage racer.

And don't forget .. the Critz Farms Kermis this weekend ....
