Yet again the wind made it's presence felt this weekend at the TVC Binghamton Circuit Race on Saturday. For the Ommegangsters that had a few miles on the course from previous editions, they quickly realised that the wind was different this go-round -- it was more of a southeasterly wind than the usual west wind. Rather than the usual strength sapping headwind along the bottom straight, this year it was in your face at the top straight and pushing you around on the decent down around the corner as you headed into the bottom straight. The weather however was it's typical schizophrenic self with a little rain, almost some sun, more clouds and so forth throughout the various events.
For the Ommegangsters, there seems that there was representation in all the men's fields (with the exception of the juniors -- umm yes, a brewery sponsor & juniors probably not a good idea to mix the two). Results wise it was a pretty decent day with a few guys making the podium (first podium for Dave M?) in their respective divisions and definitely some notable placings (like the 'gangsters in the Cat 1/2/3 field).
Full results here: http://www.bikereg.com/Results/2011/04/23-Binghamton-Circuit-Race.asp (Plz note that it looks like the couple of guys who did not pre-reg ended up being listed on Team SCARR).

Did Someone Say Windy? Bloomfield & Check Your Legs Reports
Some went easterly, some westerly. The wind was all over the place.
This past Sunday a good number of Ommegangsters got in some early season race action at either the GVCC's Bloomfield Classic or the the Check Your Legs RR. All post race banter from both events seemed to mention the brisk temps and the extremely windy conditions. When it all was over, some decent results and representation across the various categories with a number of 'gangsters posting some top 10 results.
Big congrats go to Ommegangsters Ray W and Aaron J for stepping up on the podium in their class for a respective 2nd and 3rd place.
(Also props to 'gangster friends Randy H and Wayne B for their wins.)

Battenkill !
Ommegangster Dave B on the top step at Battenkill. Looks like a pretty good day for the Team Ommegang-Syracuse Bicycle members that made the trip. Some strong results, a little tough luck and good representation across the various categories ... and a big congrats to Dave!

Multi-dimensional Cyclist
Single-minded cyclists? Simple-minded cyclists? I think not -- we are deep. multi-talented
individuals (well some of us anyway).
I present a Haiku provided by GS (inspired by Brewery Ommegang's Rare Vos, validated by
Syracuse Bicycle, and enabled by the supa-cool opener gauge)
Love the Vos dearly.
Glory to Syracuse Bike.
Praise opener-gauge.
