Summer Time

Seems as summer officially begins and June winds down, so does alot of the local racing.  There's still some here & there but not your typical choice of two (or maybe more) events over a weekend within an hour or two's drive.  It's almost as if the local/regional "scene" (if you will) heads into another chapter of the race season.  Maybe it's triathlon season?  ..or pre-cyclocross prep season? ... or just time to ride until 8:30 pm while we have the daylight and can comfortably ride in short sleeves.

Perhaps the "close" of the first chapter of the race season ends with the Owasco Flyer ... a race many from the area might consider one of the "local classics".    While a few of Ommegangsters lined up at the Corning Circuit race held at the (way cool) Watkins Glen speedway on Saturday eve, a number of Ommegangsters also jumped into the madness of this short but aggressive non-USAC race the following day.  In the end, some decent results over this weekend with yet again some good representation.  Results here:

Despite the race calendar getting a little lighter, there's a few cool Team Ommegang-Syracuse Bicycle related things on the summer "to do" list.
(1) BCTC informal group ride at Brewery Ommegang July 30.
(2) The Syracuse Bicycle Point to Pint Ride to Brewery Ommegang on Aug 20.

The informal BCTC ride is open to all; we generally do a loop of Otsego Lake (sometimes with brewery folks) around mid-morning.

The Point to Pint Ride will be announcing more details on the event soon as we finish pulling those pesky little details together.  A tentative route has been chose to include a start in Fayetteville on Rte 5 at Sun Chong's TKD School, Rte 5 to Chittenango, Rte 13 thru Caz onto New Woodstock and then Rte 80 almost all the way to Cooperstown.  Stay tuned, more details to come.
